Death Note

The death note is a promising idea that sounds cool as hell and for the most part really works in this down to earth crime thriller. It's a solid piece of entertainment. The mental battle between Light Yagami and L is a magnificent display of strategy and situational control. In my opinion, the later half of the show struggles to keep up with itself. The situations become less plausible within the established boundaries of the world and the levity of emotional moments don't hit as well. The animation is good quality but it's purposefully dark and often visually too mellow. For this same reason, it's a great starter anime. Anime is subject to some often odd and triggering humor that westerners won't always appreciate. Death Note's anime bullshit meter however is low. So it's easy to recommend without double checking yourself and your tastes in anime. Overall, it's a good quality show that for the most part lives up to it's hype.

I watched more anime than live action entertainment in 2021. So it's only right that I start keeping record of my thoughts on them all.

The cool thing about this page is that I reviewed the anime in the order I watched it. Go to the beginning and take the journey with me.
