I've been hesitant to write this review because I can't fully process this movie. How does someone accept this reality? Never before has a "war" film affected me like the one depicted here. Tragic doesn't even begin to describe the events that unfold in this historically accurate depiction of the German invasion of Byelorussia. It's revolting. I don't ever want to experience this film again but I applaud the filmmakers for their unfiltered, raw, poetically emotional walk through the terrors of life during this time of sorrow, hate, and brutality. How does someone rate a film like this? All I know is that it's not meant to be enjoyed. It's meant to be witnessed. If you ever want to remember how bad WWII was - only watch this film.
