Blonde (2022)

I'm writing most of these 2022 reviews much later after finally attempting to work on my extensive backlog of reviews and unfortunately Blonde is one I don't remember well and have no real intention of revisiting. I remember it being a painful experience. The only joy here stems from the talented and beautiful Ana de Armas' performance as Marilyn Monroe. The story this film follows is that of the fictional novel by Joyce Carol Oates, who paints a picture of the potentially dark side of Monroe's experience that was never shared. The pain and suffering depicted in this film stems from a women's pro-feminism perspective and all could be unfortunately true, but that's up for debate among the Monroe historians. As a viewer I would only recommend this to die hard fans of (pseudo) biopics or those obsessed with Ana, who really does a fantastic job in this mediocre film.
