Detroit is dealing with an infectious problem. The situation of police brutality dealing with black individuals. It's hard to watch. The performances were the highlight of the movie. Featured alongside Bigelows stylistic camera work, the actors create a very vivid and real experience. Sadly though, with almost three hours of run time the movie drags on. The situation that's sculpted seems surprisingly extended and majority of the movie takes place in real time. You've been in this situation as long as the characters have. As the characters start to realize the intensity of their own situations, the audience may start to check their phones for the time. By the end I was ready to turn the TV off and maybe go punch a cop in the face.
