" I feel so tempted. I feel so tempted to despair. I'm afraid. The weight of your silence is terrible. I pray, but I'm lost. Or am I just praying to nothing? Nothing. Because you are not there."

Silence is powerful and slow-burning art. Scorsese's work will not be denied. Even though this isn't my favorite from him it's continued to solidify Scorsese as one of the greatest directors of this time. Silence doesn't stand to astonish in one watch. It's the type of film you see, respect, and then forget about until one day you're reminded of it's moving story of endurance and love. My mind has matured along with this film and I've come to see it as special.
