"There are no two words in the English language more harmful than 'good job'." Whiplash is emotionally triumphant and musically daring. Its the type of movie that ends with no one getting up to leave- leaving its audience bewildered by such a spectacle of power. The power of the music. The beauty of the performances. A message that's been captured in film perfection. Damien Chazelle has got what Hollywood's been missing. I don't have a single complaint about this film and anyone who does deserves to have an argument with Simmons nerve-wracking portrayal of Terence Fletcher.
