The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

The profound movie critic Roger Ebert could not get on board with this film that he claims is well made. After finally watching this film, which I have procrastinated, I totally understand his review. While in one hand I find it hard to criticize a film with so much greatness, in the other I felt emotionally detached most of the runtime. My mind couldn't emphasis with this absurd fantasy. Considering it's nearly 3 hours and aims to be an emotional journey. I found myself disinterested on several occasions. I will admit this film is quite sad but not in the way that affected me. Life is already sad and with Benjamin it's more sad. Brad Pitt did a great job playing this character and honestly everyone delivers splendid performances. The film's art direction is another highlight (even though it lacked Fincher's key style). Honestly, it's a film with splendid talent holding it togther. I'd imagine in less capable hands it would be a disater, but they made it work. Even thought it doesn't always work for me.
